    Cash App says a 2025 Bitcoin sale, or a Lightning payment to a Square merchant from a Bitcoin balance, produces Form 1099-DA. Peer-to-peer Bitcoin transfers are not included. Cost basis is not reported to the IRS for 2025 sales. Cash App says it issues a separate 1099-DA for every 2025 Bitcoin sale. Before tax year 2025 it issued Form 1099-B.
